Be it Andy Warhol, Marlyn Monroe or Kate Middleton, all have donned the classic Breton T-shirt. It’s quiet fascinating how stripes as a pattern has lingered for over a century now. Each season designers & brands revive the classic sliced stripes in different silhouettes. For me 2017 exhibited the classic stripes with a bang! The runway was inundated with inventive twists by renowned designers like Diane Von Furstenburg, Proenza Schouler , Victoria Beckham, Etro , Isse Miyake Etc.Taking inspiration from these anomalous creations, I put together three effortless styles.
Whether horizontal, vertical, thin, thick, or living colour, stripes make a graphic statement. So here I am depicting my personal style drama!

Stripe-Around
Wrap-around tops never looked so modish till I saw them in the stripes avatar! No seriously, it’s amazing how this piece of sliced colors drape your torso to perfection. Needless to say, this stripes tie-around top can be styled in multiple ways. I opted for the funky street style look! I love how my denim trucker jacket doesn’t over power these gorgeous paint-brush strokes. Giving my skinnys a break I chose the uber cool flared denim pants. Denim and stripes prancing all over painting the town red, blue, green! WooHOOO…!!

2. Stripe Mash-up
I believe Stripes bring a jolt of energy to your persona, so why not go double?”
For the second look, I put together stripes of two different fabrics and textures. I paired a perfectly tailored pencil-stripe half-skirt/half-pant with a crisp linen button down shirt. The pastels from the shirt played the perfect color partner to the ash grey woven skirt. The colors compliment each other without over-bearing. Keeping the jewelry minimal, I donned a matte gold cuff. And finally, this semi-androgynous power-style look is sealed with pointy red stilettos. Double Trouble?? Wink! Wink!
What I’m Wearing:
Shirt : ONLY | Skirt : Animale ( Bali ) | Shoes : Steve Madden | Cuff: Thrifted
3. Botanical Stripes
We can see clearly how stripes don’t like to be taken too seriously. This amalgamation of florals and stripes add an element of fun to the entire look. Crop jackets/tops, body suits & solid colors work great against these wide paper bag pants. For this minimal look, I teamed an easy breezy white high-low top with these botanical print culottes and finally slipped into olive green crochet shoes. Simple yet chic!
