FOUR WAYS TO DRESS YOUR CULOTTES

Is it a skirt? Is it a trouser? Hell! Whatever it is , This Skirt-Pants Hybrid is awesome ain’t it?

Fashion and style is always evolving & as curiosity got the best of me I decided on researching on this popular trendsetter ‘The Culotte’ ( COO- LOT)

These split riding skirts actually have a sublime influence of androgyny . Men wore Culottes back in the day and later over the years the women’s fashion industry thought “Hey we need some freedom of movement too ..so why not recreate and reinvent pants for enthusiastic women horse riders?” Bingo!! Then walked in what was at that time called the split-riding-skirts a.k.a skorts a.k.a Culottes now!

These wide leg pants are MY current fashion fixation. I was in search for the perfect culottes and it took me a lot of store walk-ins and walk-outs till I walked into the Marks & Spencer store and was struck by lightning and delirious when I owned these super cool skorts!

Color, fabric, texture, fit and of course the comfort all just seemed to work for me, like it was Customized for my body and ever since then I have literally been living in them day in – day out! BOOM and I decided on sharing the different ways you can dress your Culottes”

So here are the FOUR ways you can dress your Culottes.

1) THE “GIRL GONE GRUNGE” LOOK

A grunge look for me is more like a ‘don’t-mess-with-me’ look. hmmm not too sure if it is a good thing or bad thing but it seems like The-Girl-Gone-Grunge is harboring on The-Girl –Gone-Rebellion. LOL.

OUTFIT DEETS :

You can get this soft grunge look by simply adding a plaid piece, it can be a plaid boyfriend shirt , bandana, cape or a vest like the one I am wearing. I dressed my vest over a deep navy blue racer back tank top and tucked it in my Culottes neatly. You can amp it up with a pair of ankle boots, ( *Be wary of ankle boots if you have short legs) scrunch and back comb your hair just the way I did. Smudge kohl in your eyes, paint your nails noir and if you wish, go that extra mile by smacking on some very berry lipstick. Also don’t forget those oxidized rings . Now your’e All set for some head banging to Pearl Jam or may be Nirvana? 🙂

2) THE “COFFEE WITH GIRLFRIENDS” LOOK:

Coffee with girlfriends and it sets my heart racing. For me it’s no different from a date. I am a coffee junkie, actually I am a ‘coffee shop’ junkie and as of now I am in this Cosy , pretty corner of a café , facing a couple who are so much in love (a rarity) as I type away some wonderful thoughts on my Lappy 🙂

OUTFIT DEETS!

For this casual look you can slip into a well- fitted blouse or buttoned down shirt. To give it a more feminine touch I chose this floral, pastel pink shirt. It complimented my navy culottes. I chose nude pumps as I didn’t want the attention to go away from the pink and blue pairing.

You can play around with solid colors , bright florals or just go a notch higher by dressing in a crisp white well-fitted shirt. The key is “well-fitted”.

3) THE “SEXY AND I KNOW IT ” LOOK :

Wear your heart on your sleeve and wear it off shoulder. I was dancing like nobody’s watching, I felt like I owned the road and I felt a sizzling current of sexiness zip through my body when I wore this off-shoulder aqua marine top. I could feel the world turn around me and I took the show to the road! The power of clothes I tell you!

That day I had the oomph factor going for me from head to toe and I felt so charged that my smile refused to go till the next day! I think I was smiling in my sleep! I am dead serious 🙂

OUTFIT DEETS :

Peekaboo is so alluring isnt it? Pull out a pretty little boho off-shoulder top and make sure you don’t kill the look by wearing flip-flops. I chose these mint green stilettos that complimented my outfit like a dream.

So Step into your best pair of stilettos and walk like a sexy kitten! Let the world hear that siren!

4) THE “HIGH ON ADRENALINE” LOOK :

I was 16 in my head when I put this look together. Being free-spirited, carefree and nonchalant is the way to be. Again! 16, 21 or 30 these are just numbers and I choose to be this way all the way! High on life , embracing the beauties that lie in a happy mind and making sure my energies are contagious, cause I definitely want others to jump dance and laugh with me.

OUTFIT DEETS :

Here is my take on the fourth and final ensemble that I put together. As you can see I wanted to kick some butt so decided to don a sporty gear. A crop top and culottes by far is one of the coolest ensembles i have discovered. So if you wish to be all sporty i would suggest pick your favourite crop top. Play with colors and prints because the idea is to go ballistic. I chose a soft sky blue crop trop and layered it with an always-in-season stone wash denim jacket. For this look you can go for lace-ups OR top-siders . They both look jaunty.
